There's No I in Community... Oh Wait...
Our team was ecstatic to help out with the Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero Day in Downtown Gilroy. Not only did we get to meet the World Featherweight Boxing Champion, raise awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and help keep 5th Street clean, but we pretty much headed the dance circle for most of the day! Can you blame us for wanting to boogie to three different live bands, including the rockin' Bombshell Bully's and J.J. Hawg? After being on skates for 5+ hours, we were exhausted, but happy derby girls!
Next, we joined Kids P.E. and Wellness to do the 5K Race Against Pediatric Obesity, where we skated the entire course, including walking the dirt trail part. Good thing we're limber on our toe-stops! We had a fabulous tent booth, where we provided derby info, our Bruiser Bash flyers, and let's not forget Smeesha's brilliant idea of color-your-own-skate page for kids of all ages!
After supporting our local athlete and kids, we decided to raise $ for the local animal shelter, St. Francis of Assisi of Morgan Hill. We danced with signs on the corners of downtown Morgan Hill, washed dogs, and helped Cherisse's Salon clean up afterwards.
Last, but certainly not least, we attended the Gilroy Memorial Day Parade in high fashion! Just check us out!
